Sound Designer/Engineer Instructor – 9 month
The Theatre and Cinema Program in the School of Performing Arts at Virginia Tech, seeks a dynamic, energetic, and creative theatre artist to teach and mentor Sound Design and Engineering within our BA in Theatre programs beginning in August 2019.
Duties and responsibilities will include the design, supervision, and execution of sound on productions; maintenance of equipment and facilities related to sound technology; teaching sound design, sound engineering, and/or related courses; advising and mentoring students; and will be expected to maintain professional presence in the industry.
Required qualifications: BA/BFA in theatre; professional experience in sound design and engineering; proficiency in QLab, digital sound console programming and mixing, Dante IP, editing, tuning, and wireless equipment; working at heights, able to lift 50 lbs., and have a valid driver’s license.
Preferred qualifications: MFA degree in theatre sound, university teaching experience, United Scenic Artists 829 as a sound designer, drafting skills, equipment repair, and teaching in a secondary area.
