The Department of Communication Arts at invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position in the Dance program. Appointment date is for the 2019-2020 academic year beginning August 1, 2019, and ending May 11, 2020.  All Valdosta State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching courses at multiple levels as needed in their respective disciplines. To carry out our comprehensive mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to successfully engage students as they launch or continue their intellectual journey.

Position will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Jazz Techniques and at least one other area of expertise which might include Tap Technique, Modern Technique, or Ballet Technique, creating concert and musical theatre choreography, and teaching Dance History, Dance Pedagogy, Ballroom Dance, and Introduction to Dance courses.  Limited Term Faculty members are expected to make substantive contributions to the Department including student mentoring, departmental service, community service, and research/creative activity.

Required qualifications include a Master’s degree in Dance or appropriately related field; a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning; and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.  Preference will be given for those that have a MFA Preferred in Dance or appropriately related field and/or extensive experience in professional musical theatre performance/choreography.
