Overview

The Scene Studio Supervisor is responsible for providing technical assistance to the faculty Technical Director in regard to the construction of scenery for all the production programs supported by the School of Theatre. This will include assisting in the ordering, purchasing, and delivery of all supplies needed for scenery construction; assisting in developing construction schedules and daily work lists; providing expert carpentry and metal working support during construction; and supervision and training of students (undergraduate and graduate) working within the Scenic Studio. In addition, the Scene Studio Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the Scenic Studio in a neat, orderly, and safe manner; maintaining tools and equipment within the Scenic Studio; maintaining scenery storage spaces; maintaining School of Theatre vehicles; assisting with the teaching and enforcing of UNCG and School of Theatre safety policies; and to work with other staff members maintaining performance spaces.

Minimum Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre and two years of experience
– Knowledge of the standard practices for theatrical scenery construction
– Experience with supervising students in a theatrical scene studio
– Experience with standard wood shop tools
– Experience with tool maintenance and repair
– Experience with welding (MIG)
– Experience with counterweight stage rigging system
-Computer literacy (Office, Google Suite)

Preferred Qualifications:
– BFA in Design and/or Technical Production
– Experience with ShopBot CNC router table
– Familiar with Vectorworks
– Familiar with Vcarve Pro
– Experience with standard metal shop tools
– Experience with TIG Welding
– Experience with pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems
