Overview

The Department of Theatre & Film at The University of Mississippi invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Movement for the Actor beginning August 20, 2020. An MFA along with a strong record in the professional industry is required for this full time, tenure track, nine-month position. Responsibilities include overseeing movement training within a BFA emphasis in Acting for Stage & Screen at a Research I University; teaching undergraduate movement and acting courses at both the lower and upper division; maintaining and growing a strong record of professional creative work outside the department; and performing service appropriate to the position including recruitment and participation in shared governance. Additional responsibilities will include directing or providing movement coaching within our mainstage season and mentoring students in the program both academically as well as with career preparation. The department currently enrolls 120 majors with 20 full time faculty and offers a BA in Theatre Arts and BFA in Theatre Arts emphases in Acting for Stage & Screen, Design & Theatre Production, and Film Production.
