The department (www.comm.msstate.edu) is one of the largest on campus. Approximately 575 majors are in concentrations of Broadcast & Digital Journalism, Communication Studies, Print & Digital Journalism, Public Relations, and Theatre. Students may choose concentrations in more than one area, and minors are offered in each concentration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for directing one production each semester (two per year) in the program’s production season. In addition, this faculty member will teach two courses each semester in the area of performance, directing, and other areas of need in the program.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the activities below. The successful candidate will have a 2/2 teaching load with a two-course release per semester for research and direction of productions. This position also serves as festival director for the North Mississippi High School Drama Festival. A summer appointment may be possible, but is not guaranteed.
The successful candidate will be qualified to teach courses in Acting, Directing, Performance Studies, Script Analysis, and/or Theatre History.
Service to the department, university, and profession is expected. Service for this position includes serving on committees. Service activities within the community and professional discipline are also recognized as aspects of faculty achievement
MFA or Ph.D. in Acting or Directing in Theatre. ABD applicants will be considered. Candidates should have professional and/or academic theatre experience.
Collegiate-level teaching and professional experience are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge of the field and a willingness to participate collegially in a broad department. Candidates must be able to communicate that knowledge in a classroom and performance/production environment to students as well as to other important groups through scholarship and service. Working Conditions and Physical Effort
The successful candidates must be able to teach in a classroom setting and provide service in the profession.
