House Manager and Director of Patron Services – Academic Specialist

Indiana University’s Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance seeks a highly organized, energetic House Manager & Director of Patron Services with superior communication and management skills for a full-time 12-month position. Serving as a public face for the department, the position manages audiences’ at all public events year-round and may teach one formal course each year.

Requires excellent leadership in supervising volunteers, student employees and engaging regularly with faculty, donors, staff, patrons, student body, university employees, and friends of the department. This position liaisons with stage and production management, the faculty and the Chair.

Requires communication skills that exude patience, professionalism and flexibility. Management of large groups is a significant part of position and requires confidence, decisiveness, quick response time and assertiveness.

Position converses with community, donors, patrons regularly and may participate with departmental outreach, special initiatives and is an important member of the department’s professional summer theatre company.

Demonstrates commitment to the importance and integrity of theatre and dance, and the study of these disciplines; engage varying cultural groups to create a welcoming and inclusive space for all members of our community. Must stay updated on IU safety protocols and accessibility to productions. Frequent opportunities mentoring and supervising students in areas of management such as house, stage and/or production management.
