Overview

The TD would be responsible for set design and construction, lighting design, sound and other aspects working in collaboration with our Artistic Directors and staff.  The position would begin based on candidates availability but no later than mid May.   We will also consider applicants who are interested in a seasonal contract. HART’s main stage season runs May through October.  Applicants should have an M.F.A. or B.F.A. in Technical theater, completed by May 2020.  Submit your letter of interest to the attention of Steve Lloyd, HART Executive Director.  We will be at the SETC job fair in Louisville.

1) a letter of application addressing a) the essential and preferred qualifications; b) your approach to technical direction/design

2) portfolio link or equivalent design examples

3) at least three letters of recommendation

About HART Theater

HART is a semi-professional Community Theater, established in 1984, which produces a year round schedule of plays and musicals from its home, the Performing Arts Center at the Shelton Campus.  HART's facilities sit on an eight acre historic site and include a 250 seat main auditorium, the new Fangmeyer theater, a totally flexible space that can morph from a dinner theater night club into a black box in the round.   HART also operates Harmons Den Bistro, and there is a full time chef on staff. Waynesville is a scenic mountain town that is the "Gateway to the Great Smokey's National Park" and sits 20 miles west of Asheville, NC.
